After setting up a vintage and handmade market in the south of Bristol during 2011, Magpies and I are taking it, literally, to new heights for 2012.
Created by two sisters – one based in Bristol, one in Altrincham – Magpies and I started from a love of vintage and evenings spent making all manner of craft projects….mainly fuelled by a vast button collection!
Magpies and I will be hosting three markets at the M shed, located on the top floor overlooking the harbour. The first market takes place on the 25th of March and is part of the Vintage Weekend that M shed are holding in conjunction with the Norman Parkinson exhibition, ‘An Eye For Fashion‘. There will be over 40 stalls selling cakes, jewellery, photography, illustration, vintage home wear, vintage clothing, handmade clothing and more.
Bristol Magpies are also in the process of setting up craft workshops, getting lots of ‘magpies’ involved to teach their craft skills, with the odd high tea thrown in, of course! It’s an opportunity for Magpies and I market customers to learn new crafting skills and meet like-minded people in the community.
The hope is for the Bristol market to grow over the coming year, with more dates and more sellers joining. Magpies and I want to provide the South West’s handmade and vintage sellers with somewhere that has a friendly, inclusive feel, with great foot-fall, to sell their wares.
In the meantime, enjoy your M Shed and join Magpies and I on the top floor for a day celebrating Bristol’s crafters and all that’s vintage.
